It's August Already??!

This summer has flown by so fast! It's crazy. I went on the wonderful trip to Little Rock and Fort Worth in May, took a Printmaking class in June and July, went to a workshop at the ever so
awesome Hatch Show Print in Nashville, still making copies and printing away at Officemax, been to a few great shows including Band of Horses (The Black Keys on the 12th!!), hanging out with my wonderful friends AND I'll be 25 in about 11 days. Eventful summer I'd say. Life is so great right now and I am really enjoying everything I've gotten to do.

The not so distant future:

Class starts back on the 19th of August where I will be taking my last Design class and a couple gen eds. I am cutting back on Officemax a bit because I will be taking over the Graphic Design work study position at school. I'm excited to do this! Also, I will be doing a blog for the school too. Probably going to be more of a vlog because I like talking more than writing. Hoping to have an internship in the fall as well!!

I will graduate in the spring and that seems so close now (scared/excited face).

So, the question that I get asked every freakin day...

Q: Amy, what do you want to do when you graduate?

A: Find out in my next blog :)

Here are some pics from the Hatch Workshop. We're putting on a show with the posters we made for Watkins 125th Anniversary. Show's in a couple weeks.
Posters spell out 125th Anniversary (1 letter per sheet)

2 months 2 long.

This has been one crazy, busy, good semester. I have been non stop lately. I have had a lot of good things happen and I am so thankful for everything. I am especially thankful for my family, friends and professors who have been so inspiring and helpful. I would not be where I am right now without them. seriously.
So, I have 4 class days left before the end of the semester and I am so ready! I am actually embarking on a solo journey to Texas in May and I am super pumped. I am driving and that will be the longest I've driven by myself. It's really scary and exciting at the same time. I love that I can be on my own timeline and do what I want, when I want. The trip to Ft. Worth (where my sister and bro-in law live) from Nashville is normally about 11hrs. I estimate 13-14hrs with the intent of stopping to take pictures and just explore a little bit of the states in between. The scary part is, I don't want to get lost and I have no GPS, so I may have to borrow or steal one from somebody just in case.
A lot has been on my mind lately and I am just glad to be able to take this time and think and just...be. Me and the road and of course an amazing playlist.
Music is just absolutely amazing and such a huge part of my life. I would be lost without it. This trip will have an epic soundtrack.
Well, that's all I got.

so, it's time for an update!

So, a lot has been going on the past week or so. I am doing a freelance job for a guy who has started his own Structural Engineering Co. He needs a logo, business card, letterhead. So, that's going to be fun. I believe i talked in my previous post about entering the Student Addy Design Competition and...it looks like I have won one! YAY! i don't know what for yet, i will find out on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd at 7pm. I am excited to see what got it! This will be my 2nd Addy. hmm, what else. I am really just designin as much as I can and still workin at officemax about 30hrs a week, which is a lot, cuz i close everynight and that is starting to wear on me. Now, that I have more work to do, as the semester moves on, I am definitely needing more time to work on stuff. But, it is all good. I am also working on 2 posters for some film students, doing a little save the date and then some business cards for some other film students. Some random things, I have now, after 4 years, filled up my 250 gig hardrive, so i gotta a new 500 gig today, so that's nice. Last night I had a collage night with my friends Valerie and Vanessa and we made some fun stuff. Well, i am sure there are other things, but I am tired and must sleep. I have a 10hr shift tomorrow. yuuuck.

I'm Back

I kind of missed a week there, but i have been stayin busy and very productive. Got my first ad done for advertising last week and the 1st poster for my Type class done, it's due in the morning, a long with a paper on swiss design. Also, been getting stuff ready for the Student Addy's Design Competition that I will be entering again this year. Hmm, have a few freelance jobs in the works, which is really awesome and also doing a small budget for a small business project. I am working with Miller Piano, my parents piano store, with a hypethetical $5000 budget and hypethetical advertising. However, we are actually getting to do a fun experiment to push the piano lesson program. I'll explain more about that later, but it involves a fun "treasure hunt" to target! haha. It's gonna be cool!
Anyway, more on that tomorrow.
Talk to ya'll later!

funny thing is, i didn't really care for this song when it was first released, but then i got the album a couple years ago and i love it and her music. I found this video sometime last year and it makes me love the song even more! Also, i have total respect for her too, she can rock it!

Swiss Design

So, i have been lovin me some swiss design. Clean, simple, to the point. It's very type based, and since i love working with type...i definitely love the style! I'm doing a paper on it now along with a poster for the student Addy's in this style. This magazine is full of awesome info.
